1. Introducing Your Analysis
In the discussion section of your legal memorandum, you will express your complete legal analysis of each of the issues stated at the beginning of the memorandum. If your memorandum addresses a single issue that you have formally stated at or near the beginning of the memorandum, your discussion of the issue need not begin with any descriptive heading beyond the major section heading “Discussion.” If you address multiple issues, however, you should separately analyze each issue under a descriptive section heading.
Some assigning attorneys may wish you to restate the issue in full or nearly full detail in the corresponding section heading of the discussion:
